Overlapping marriage lines is a term that covers several different configurations, each with its own reading. Distinguishing between them matters considerably before drawing any conclusions.
The most benign form is the overlapping break: a marriage line that stops and then continues slightly offset, with the two sections briefly overlapping. This is traditionally read as separation followed by reconciliation - a relationship that went through a difficult period of parting and resumed. The overlap is the reunion.
More complex is the configuration of two parallel lines running together or one above the other without clearly separating. This is associated with simultaneous or closely overlapping relationships - either emotional entanglement with two people at the same time, or a new relationship beginning before the previous one fully closed.
The most negatively read form is disordered overlapping lines: multiple lines of different lengths crossing and intersecting without order. Chinese palmistry specifically associates this with interference in romantic life and difficulty finding a stable, lasting partnership.
