Palm height is measured from the base of the middle finger (the crease where the finger meets the palm) down to the wrist crease. Palm width is measured across the widest part of the palm, usually just below the finger bases. These two measurements give you palm shape.
For finger length, measure the middle finger from its base (same starting point as the palm height) to its tip. Compare this to the palm height measurement. If the middle finger is clearly shorter than the palm, your fingers are "short." If the middle finger is roughly equal to the palm height or longer, your fingers are "long."
This produces your type from the grid. Most people will find the match approximate rather than exact, which is normal and expected. Use the grid as a starting point, then adjust based on which features feel most dominant.
